Long-term single lane closures are underway on I-64 near J. Clyde Morris Boulevard in Newport News, VA. The center lane of I-64 eastbound will close, resulting in a traffic split with three lanes. Vehicles exiting at J. Clyde Morris Boulevard must use the inner right lane. This is the second phase of the closures, part of a project to rehab nearby bridges. VDOT advises drivers to follow speed limits and lane markings. The traffic pattern will be in place until fall, subject to weather and scheduling changes. Newport News, Va. has marked a significant milestone as the Virginia-class submarine Arkansas (SSN 800) was launched into the James River by HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding.
