📚 One City Reads Is Back

One City Reads is back and Newport News feels a little more book-heavy in the best way. Students get a book for their grade level. Elementary kids read “The One and Only Ivan”, and middle school students read “Framed.” The kickoff at Brittingham-Midtown pulled in a big crowd, families grabbing books, kids already flipping through pages on the way out. It gave the city a strong start to the month.

🥞Williamsburg Queen’s Cake

I worked at Colonial Williamsburg as a teen and stopped by the Raleigh Tavern Bake Shop whenever I could for Queen’s Cake. It stands the test of time with that old Virginia taste. I hope you enjoy the recipe as much as I enjoy the cake.
