Commissioner of the Revenue Announces High Mileage Week in Newport News

Tiffany Boyle, the Commissioner of the Revenue for Newport News, has announced the annual "High Mileage Week," scheduled from Monday, February 23, through Friday, February 27.

 

During this period, owners of vehicles, trucks, or motorcycles with high mileage are encouraged to apply for potential reductions in their property assessments.

 

While "High Mileage Week" highlights this opportunity, residents can submit applications at any time up to Saturday, February 28.

 

Applications can be completed in person through Friday, February 27, or online until Saturday, February 28.

 

To qualify, applicants must provide acceptable proof of mileage dated before Sunday, March 1, 2026.

 

Acceptable documentation includes:

 

• State inspection receipts

 

• Oil change receipts

 

• Repair bills

 

• Detailed mileage logs

 

It's important to note that pictures of odometer readings are not accepted as valid documentation for the high-mileage relief application.
