Newport News Takes Center Stage in 'The Great Food Truck Race'

Food Network's Culinary Competition Showcases Local Flavors at Victory Landing Park

Newport News is set to shine as it becomes a featured stop on the latest season of 'The Great Food Truck Race', the popular Food Network series hosted by Tyler Florence.

On Sunday, September 7, viewers can tune in to witness the city's vibrant culinary scene as the competition unfolds at Victory Landing Park.

Earlier this year, the show's production team selected Newport News as a key location for its 18th season, titled 'Truckin' Awesome'.

The episode, aptly named 'Bad News in Newport News', features the remaining food truck teams facing unique challenges that test their culinary skills and business acumen.

Mayor Phillip Jones expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Hosting a nationally recognized competition like 'The Great Food Truck Race' is an opportunity to showcase all the incredible things happening right here in Newport News. We’re proud to celebrate our city’s growing energy, creativity, and community spirit."

The competing food trucks bring a diverse array of flavors to the city:

Nishaan, a Pakistani-American fusion truck from New York City, offers dishes like their signature Pakistani Chopped Cheese, blending traditional flavors with American classics.

Good Fortune Co., hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, specializes in handmade Chinese noodles and dumplings, with their pork dumplings featuring homemade dough and smoked black cardamom.

Cooking with Que from Detroit, Michigan, focuses on plant-based comfort food, serving up a loaded vegan mac & cheese with a plant-based cheese sauce and shredded vegan chicken.

The Newport News episode of 'The Great Food Truck Race' premieres on Sunday, September 7, at 9 p.m. ET on Food Network and will be available for streaming the following day on HBO Max.

Don't miss this exciting showcase of culinary talent set against the backdrop of our beautiful city.
