Hampton Roads Transit Announces Labor Day Schedule Adjustments in Newport News

Modified Services and Upcoming Community Events to Note

On Monday, September 1, 2025,  Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) will implement a modified schedule in observance of Labor Day, affecting services in Newport News and surrounding areas.

Bus routes, light rail, the Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, ridesharing services, and paratransit will operate on a Saturday schedule. Additionally, the ferry service will transition to its winter timetable on this date.

Labor Day marks the final day for the full schedule of the VB Wave trolley service. Starting September 2, the VB Wave will shift to its post-summer schedule, continuing operations through September 28.

Transit center information booths and public access to all administrative facilities including ID badge services and lost and found—will be closed on Labor Day. However, the Customer Service Call Center will remain available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for any inquiries.

For residents and visitors planning to attend local events, such as the upcoming Southeast Community Day Parade and Festival on September 6, it is best to check HRT's schedules in advance to ensure smooth transportation.

For more detailed information on specific routes and schedules, please visit HRT's official website or contact their Customer Service Call Center at 757-222-6100.
