Discover how our community basketball program and youth basketball make an impact |
Friday nights in Newport News are transforming into vibrant hubs of activity, thanks to the return of Friday Night Nets.
This dynamic community basketball program is set to run every Friday from May 16 through August 22, offering a safe and engaging environment for both youth and adults.
Hosted at the Denbigh Community Center and the An Achievable Dream Tennis Center, the program is divided into two sessions: youth (17 and under) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and adults (18 and over) from 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Participants can look forward to basketball games, e-gaming, free food, and access to various community resources.
Mayor Phillip Jones emphasized the program's significance, stating, "This program is a testament to our commitment to supporting our youth and creating positive experiences for all members of our community."
He encourages everyone to join, whether for a game of basketball, a fun night of gaming, or to take advantage of the many resources available.
For those interested in contributing, Friday Night Nets is actively seeking community organizations, local businesses, mentors, and volunteers to enhance the program's impact.
Whether you're interested in partnering, sponsoring, volunteering, or providing programming support, there's a role for you.
To get involved, contact Newport News Parks and Recreation at 757-926-1400 or visit any Newport News Community Center.
Together, we can make every Friday count, building stronger bonds and brighter futures in our community. |
