Support for pharmacy service disruption and medication access |
The Newport News Fire Department's Community Health Bus is stepping up to assist residents affected by the impending disruption in pharmacy services at Fishing Point.
To ensure uninterrupted access to medications, the Health Bus will be stationed at 2315 Jefferson Ave. on Friday, April 10, and Monday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During these times, residents can receive help with:
Identifying nearby pharmacies accepting new patients.
Assisting with prescription transfers.
Addressing questions about accessing care during this transition.
This initiative responds to Fishing Point Healthcare's recent announcement of pausing services for Virginia Medicaid patients starting Wednesday, April 15, due to a federally mandated payment suspension.
The pause is expected to impact over 4,400 patients in the region, potentially leaving many without a dedicated pharmacy.
The primary objective is to help patients maintain their medication routines without interruption as they transition to new pharmacy providers.
