Industrial property sales and retail space leases |

Industrial property sales and retail space leases are putting Newport News commercial real estate in focus across Oyster Point and beyond.
In Oyster Point, a fully leased industrial building at 11838 Canon Boulevard sold for $1.6 million, drawing attention to an occupied property.
The 15,843-square-foot building changed hands from Bunker Boulevard Land Trust to an entity named for its Canon Boulevard address.
Another Newport News transaction involved nearly 2.9 acres at 11999 Jefferson Avenue, purchased for $6.4 million by Enterprise Leasing Co. of Norfolk/Richmond.
On the leasing side, Lux Notary Co. took 1,225 square feet of retail space along Kiln Creek Parkway.
That lease brings a service business into a corridor familiar to residents moving between Newport News and York County.
Elsewhere, retail space leases include a renewal by 70 East Tobacco for 1,200 square feet on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard.
AC Salon Suites extended its office lease on Diligence Drive, while Compendium Federal Technology leased 3,341 square feet on Thimble Shoals Boulevard.
None of these transactions guarantees broader growth, but together they show buyers and tenants making commitments across several kinds of property.
The local picture extends beyond commercial deals: Stuart Gardens, a historic Newport News housing community, secured $97.8 million in rehabilitation financing.
Planned work includes exterior repairs, apartment upgrades and a new playground, with completion expected in early 2028.
For residents, that project carries a different kind of real estate significance: improvements to a long-standing community of nearly 500 homes.
Commercial investment and housing rehabilitation are separate stories, yet both will shape how familiar Newport News places look and function.
For now, industrial property sales, retail space leases and renewed occupancy offer a grounded snapshot of activity rather than a promise of what comes next. |
